In just a few hours, it’s going to be 2009! What are your new year resolutions?
I’ve never been big on new year resolutions, and haven’t really made a list of them for the past couple of years. Far too often, people around me make customary new year resolutions that they never could keep. To me, new year resolutions are stressful because we are setting goals and targets that will guide our actions in the upcoming year when most of the time we can’t predict what’s going to come our way that might disrupt the plans. And it’s never a good feeling when fulfillment of goals elude us for an entire year.
Someone once told me, if you actually write them down and pin it up somewhere where you can see it everyday, it becomes ingrained in your subconscious, and you will be working towards it without really trying very hard. So at the end of the year when you do a reflection, you would realise that those words on the wall have actually cast their effect.
So I think I will try that this year, and hopefully next year when I’m writing my last entry for 2009, they would have come true.
Meanwhile, I would like to wish all a Happy New Year and keep those resolutions stuck on the wall!
It's the first time I've ever seen such a massive crowd at any roadshow. Thank you all for loving "Little Nyonya" and the fervent support. Special thanks go out to the artiste managers, security guards and all colleagues from MediaCorp who helped maintain order and protect us from the swarming crowd. It was quite an experience!!
I’ve always wanted to learn painting because there will only ever be one original piece of work. I like to express myself through my writing and my photography and figured painting would provide yet another avenue. I never blog because I have to and I never shoot subjects I’m not inspired by. That is to keep my expression as real as possible. Painting would be a cathartic experience.
Although replicas of famous paintings can be made, not only does it loses its value but also the emotional depth. Like any art, it’s not the technical skill that determines the quality of work, but the passion in the expression of it.
I hope to share my maiden work with all of you some day.
这是另一种风格的画,是由一位很有天分的朋友用电脑画的。这个卡通我非常喜欢,因为把我俏皮的一面呈现的很有趣,竟然有三个我!它可以在我Jollity Fan Club 的汗衫背面看到。如果你们喜欢的话,可以写电邮到 jollity.joanne@gmail.com 询问如何购买。
This comic of me is another style of drawing done by a very talented individual. I love the way she presents the playful side of me! You can find this on the back of Jollity Fan Club’s official tee. If you would like to purchase the t-shirt, please email Rina jollity.joanne@gmail.com to enquire.
Thank you Jolliteers for coming to the Christmas gathering yesterday, and all that presents! I’m so lucky! This is the first time we’re having a Christmas-KTV gathering and I really had a great time, because everyone joined in the singing and that made it so much more personal, I hope all of you there did enjoy yourself. Special thanks to the committee members for putting this party together, I appreciate the amount of work and effort put into trying to make this as perfect as it can be, thank you all so much for this lovely Christmas gift!!!! I am going to leave the opening of all the thoughtful presents to Christmas Day itself, because it’s a lot more fun opening many many presents at a go!
In the meantime, I’m going to sort out my pictures from vacation and hopefully get the first entry up as soon as I can. Sorry to make you all wait!
